BCM asks community to help stop illegal connections

BCM is calling on residents to help clamp down on cable theft and illegal elecricity connections, following a spate of vandalism in Santa, West Bank and Clubview.

“We have made major breakthroughs working with the South African Police Services in arresting and convicting perpetrators behind these crimes,” BCM said.

The municipality also said that they were taking important steps to protect important infrastructure and assets.

“However, without communities being directly involved in assisting the safeguarding of their assets, thieves will continue by targeting smaller, isolated assets,” BCM said.

“We will continue with security raids and safety operations targeted at thwarting these syndicates.

“We encourage communities to report acts of vandalism, create relationships with their local police stations and discourage these acts.”
