Local hockey players make SA team

Members of the East London-based Bohemian Hockey Club took part in the SA Masters hockey trials which were held in Johannesburg and Cape Town recently.

Eight team members were selected for various teams, all of which were announced last Friday.

Michelle Conroy and Natasha Luxon were selected for 45+, Samantha Boucher and Wendy Croucamp made 50+, Debra Marshall and Helena Dalbock made 55+, while Celia Taylor and Sue Piderit made 60+ Grandmasters.

KJ Friend and Paul Dineen, meanwhile were selected as coach and manager respectively for the Mens 45 Colts.

The squads will be playing in the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Cape Town from November 26 to 28.

They will then take part in a training camp in February next year, after which players will be selected for the World Cup 2022 teams.
