Amatola Haven a refuge for retirees

Amatola Haven was established in 1989 and was first affiliated to the Red Cross care for the aged. It is now a fully-fledged retirement village with its own board of  management.

It has developed from small beginnings to now having a comfortable and excellent frail care section with trained staff; and 60 Life occupation Right (LOR) cottages of differing sizes.

The vision is to make Amatola Haven an attractive choice for senior citizens by providing Life Ownership Rights cottages, Good governance, Sustainability, Transparency, Professionalism, and ethical behaviour – with good relationships between staff and residents.

Amatola Haven is a gem of peace and tranquillity, with beautiful views of the Amatola Mountain range and forests, and set in beautiful gardens. It is good value for money and has the friendly charm of a small town and caring community, with an  up-country feel  of clean air  and  healthy  climate.

Medical assistance is also available to the LOR residents, and meals are  available to LOR residents at a small charge.

The Stutterheim Hospital is in close proximity.

There is 24-hour security at the complex.

The Family Fun day Flea-market brings people to Amtola Haven so they can see the cottage layout, experience the hospitality and see it is a great alternative to retiring in a big city where costs are higher.
