This week we chat to Quinton Sanderson, who runs West Bank Fight Club, where he offers boxing training for the youth.
Q: What services do you offer?
A: We offer fitness, boxing and self-defence training.
Q: When did your business start? What inspired you to start this venture?
A: Tyrone Smith and I are co-founders. We started the club about four months ago after seeing the interest that the youth in West Bank showed in boxing.
Q: What experience does one need to be able to do your work? Where did your experience come from?
A: I think just having a passion for the sport and wanting to see your community uplifted is all you need.
Q: How many people do you work with?
A: There are about 20 members in the club.
Q: Aside from the physical techniques, what other skills can one learn from boxing?
A: Boxing teaches you discipline, as well as fitness. It also teaches self defence for males and females, which can help in a dangerous situation.
Q: What satisfaction do you get out of doing the work that you do?
A: It is very satisfying to give the youth something to do and see them excel in it, keeping them off the streets and out of trouble. It also helps to grow their self-confidence.

Q: Who is your target market?
A: Our target market is mainly the youth from our area starting from about 18 but anyone is welcome no matter your age or gender.
Q: What goals are you working towards?
A: Our goal is to grow the club and its facility, as well as to get sponsors to help us with equipment and training gear and to help grow our fighters to take them to the next level.
Q: What advice do you have for anyone starting their own business?
A: You have to put in time and effort and have a passion for what you do.
Q: Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?
A: We would greatly appreciate any donations regarding gym or boxing equipment that might be lying around and not being used. As well as any sort of sponsoship regarding prizes, no matter what it is. Your business can put up banners or signs and will also be advertised in all our videos and photos that are posted online as well it will be seen by people when we have events.
