BIG DREAMS: Aluve Ntwana celebrates with the scout for World Wide Scholarships, Fabrizio Piccareta, after he was selected as the recipient of the scholarship. Picture: SUPPLIEDAluve Ntwana, a talented 13-year-old pupil from New Generations Primary School (NGPS), in Vergenoeg, Buffalo Flats, will be heading off to Napoli, Italy in August, after his selection for the trip after his exceptional performance at the inaugural TRA-BIS U13 football tournament earlier this year, hosted by TRA Risk Analysis and Border Icons in Sport (BIS).
This journey is organised by World Wide Scholarships (WWS), an agency dedicated to sports tourism and youth development.
Aluve’s participation in the SSC Napoli official summer camp promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The camp, held in the picturesque regions of Dimaro and Castel di Sangro, offers young soccer enthusiasts the chance to train with the Italian champion club.
Participants will not only engage in intensive soccer training but also enjoy various sports disciplines and evening entertainment filled with music, games and fun.
With more than 40 years of experience, the camp is renowned for its comprehensive educational projects, professional technical staff, and recreational activities that cater to every age group. The Bella Italia EFA Village in Lignano Sabbiadoro, the camp’s accommodation venue, is known for its stunning natural landscapes, making it an ideal setting for a memorable summer experience.
Aluve will check in at the Bella Italia EFA Village from August 4-11. During this period, he will not only hone his soccer skills but immerse himself in Italian culture and make friends from around the world.
NGPS has expressed immense pride in Aluve’s achievement and has pledged full support for his trip. The school recognises the significant impact this opportunity will have on Aluve’s personal and athletic development.
School officials and Aluve’s peers are eager to hear about his experiences and the new skills he will bring back to share with his community.
According to the excited and proud principal, Nadine O’Reilly, the school has organised a special fundraising event on Friday July 19, to support Aluve. The fundraising committee has decided to raise funds for Aluve’s mother, Khanyisa, to accompany him to OR Tambo Airport.
O’Reilly emphasised the community’s enthusiasm and collective effort to ensure Aluve and his mother have a smooth journey.
The school also extends its gratitude to BIS for organising the soccer competition and sponsorship, mainly from Total Risk Administrator, that made this opportunity possible.
WWS founder and CEO Maraire Munya emphasised the importance of such experiences in fostering young talent and broadening their horizons.
Aluve’s journey to Italy symbolises the dedication and talent of young athletes in SA and highlights the importance of nurturing such potential through international exposure and professional coaching. The community eagerly awaits Aluve’s return.
