Internationally acclaimed and SAMA-winning artist Guy Buttery will be performing at Legends Showcase on Friday April 12, as part of his “Intramural Encounters” tour.
This tour marks his first nationwide solo tour of SA South Africa in over four years.
Since his debut album When I Grow Up in 2002, Buttery has received numerous awards for his music.
His debut album was nominated in the for Best Instrumental and Best Newcomer categories at the 2002 SAMAs, which made Buttery the youngest nominee in the awards’ history.
He won his first SAMA in 2010 for his album Fox Hill Lane and won another in 2014 for his live album Live in KwaZulu.
He has also received the National Arts Festival’s Ovation Award three times– in 2010, ‘12 and ‘14.
Buttery has performed with numerous musical acts throughout his career including the Odeion String Quartet, the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, and Indian sitar player Kanada Narahari.
For “Intramural Encounters”, however, Buttery will be going solo.
“There is something so intimate and humanistic about a solo show. One singular exchange of energy between performer and audience always sheds a new light on the music. Each performance offers up an inward gaze of self, hopefully for both the listener as well as myself acting as some form of catalyst in this process,” Buttery said.
Tickets will be R100 per person.
